Good news! You don’t need work motivation. It’s your boss’s problem!
In this age of quiet quitting, employers and workers alike search for answers. Worker’s don’t need work motivation because every article and study about work engagement is addressed to leadership and management (L & M).
Internet search for ‘employee engagement’
Try it. Search the internet for employee engagement and you’ll see what I mean. My casual search firmly established that L & M is not only responsible, but eager to be responsible for a lack of worker engagement. Honestly, as the world’s leading certified Crappy Job Specialist, I couldn’t agree more.
Titles in search results say it all
The titles found in my search were as follows:
Staff Engagement Ideas - Build A Culture of Innovation
How Companies Can Improve Employee Engagement Right Now
What is Employee Engagement? What, Why, and How to Improve It
Like I told you. All you have to do is show up and bask in the warm reception your L & M gives you as they guide you to working bliss.
You’re off the hook!
Tell me. How are you doing today? I hope you’re doing great, but if you’re following me, it’s because your job is a drag and you need a little light in your work life. Today, I’m jokingly letting you off the hook for your own worker motivation. Of course, quiet quitting might be a great delaying tactic but is no long-term solution.
Exercise for today
Your exercise for today is to recall a time when you were self-motivated. Maybe you should recall how you got qualified and landed the job you have. I suspect you put some self-motivated effort into it. I know you at least put in 10 online applications for already-filled positions that never acknowledged receiving your application.
My job is to boost your motivation
I know that you have to find your own motivation to some degree. But, my job as a CCJS (Certified Crappy Job Specialist) is to remind you that losing motivation due to poor working conditions is nothing to beat yourself up about. I will share everything I find that boosts your motivation and helps you find a path to grow in your profession.
HOWEVER, I’m lightening up, because...
It’s Friday!
At least it was when I wrote this. I remembered that epic Rebecca Black song ‘Friday’. I played it on YouTube. Shared it with my bestie. Replayed it a couple of times for the absolute fun of it.
Oddly, I suggested it for my daughter and she ‘respectfully declined’ my song recommendation. Oh well. I’ll have ‘Fun. Fun. Fun. Fun.’ on my own.
As I cut you loose to enjoy your weekend - working or not - I want to offer you a chance to give the correct question to the $400 answer in the blog photo.
The answer is, “Worker Engagement”.
What is the correct question? “What is not my problem!”
Relax
